Job Summary:
The Technology Governance Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise technology and data governance within the security function. This role partners closely with the CISO, Chief Digital Technology Officer (CDTO), and key business stakeholders to ensure governance frameworks, policies, and controls align with organizational goals and risk tolerance.
The role oversees program-level governance initiatives including technology and data inventory management, classification and minimization, stewardship programs, access governance, and risk assessments. The leader will also establish governance metrics, reporting frameworks, and governance tooling to support regulatory compliance, security maturity, and AI readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish governance policies, rules, and structures that guide technology and business enablement operations.
  • Lead enterprise cyber risk management alignment with business risk tolerance.
  • Monitor compliance with external regulations (e.g., GDPR) and internal security policies.
  • Communicate risk posture and compliance insights to executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
  • Lead the selection and deployment of GRC tools such as Vanta or MetricStream to automate controls and reporting.
  • Define and maintain technology and data governance charters, scope, and decision-right models (RASCI).
  • Develop and operationalize data classification, minimization, and retention policies.
  • Oversee creation of a prioritized inventory of technology and data assets for discovery, classification, lineage tracking, and risk analysis.
  • Design and implement stewardship programs and assign data ownership and stewardship roles.
  • Conduct Data Risk Assessments (DRA / FinDRA) to prioritize datasets and guide security investment decisions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for audits, regulatory reviews, and client-facing compliance assessments.
  • Coordinate access governance controls including role-based or purpose-based access management.
  • Oversee integration of governance platforms including data catalog, lineage tracking, data quality, and observability tools.
  • Implement governance dashboards and reporting tied to business KPIs and enterprise risk metrics.
  • Collaborate with IAM, SIEM/SOC, DSPM/DLP, and security teams to support governance operations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in information security or technology governance.
  • Experience leading enterprise governance programs across technology and data domains.
  • Experience conducting enterprise risk assessments and collaborating with security, privacy, legal, and audit teams.
  • Experience engaging executive leadership and translating technical risks into business and financial terms.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
  • Experience implementing enterprise GRC platforms such as Vanta or MetricStream.
  • Experience working with large-scale enterprise data architectures.
  • Experience supporting regulatory and compliance frameworks in complex organizations.
