Writer/Editor 3 - Technical Editor (Safety Basis)
Location: Remote / Hybrid / Onsite (Nuclear / High-Hazard Facility Environment)
Clearance: Active DOE clearance preferred or ability to obtain
About the Role
You won't just be editing documents - you'll be helping ensure the safety and compliance of mission-critical nuclear facilities.
We are seeking an experienced Technical Editor to support the development, review, and maintenance of Safety Basis documentation. In this role, you will partner closely with engineers, safety analysts, and subject matter experts to ensure documents are clear, consistent, compliant, and ready for formal internal and external review.

Key Responsibilities
You will support the editing and preparation of:
Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs)
Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs)
Hazard Analyses and supporting calculations
Safety Evaluation Reports
Change packages and review documentation
Your work will ensure that documents are:
Clear, organized, and technically accurate without altering technical intent
Compliant with DOE orders and regulatory requirements (including 10 CFR 830, DOE O 420.1, and site-specific standards)
Properly formatted in accordance with document control, templates, and style guides
Prepared for internal reviews, audits, approvals, and readiness activities
Additional responsibilities include tracking revisions, managing comment resolution, maintaining version control, and supporting configuration management processes across multiple concurrent documents.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience editing technical or regulatory documentation
Strong command of grammar, formatting, and document structure
Experience collaborating with engineers and technical SMEs
Ability to improve clarity in complex technical material
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and document control tools
Preferred Qualifications
Experience editing DOE Safety Basis documentation (DSA, TSR, USQ-related documents)
Familiarity with configuration management and formal document review processes
Active DOE clearance
Education & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, or related field
6-8 years of relevant technical editing experience
Experience working in regulated environments (nuclear, government, energy, defense, etc.) preferred
