An established distributor of flow-control hardware for the maritime industry is seeking a Technical Sales Representative to join their team in Houston, TX. The position is primarily responsible for prospecting onboard vessels and expanding sales or services to new and existing accounts through technical expertise.
Responsibilities:
* Develop relationships with key customer stakeholders, including Ship Captains, Staff Captains, Chief Engineers, Junior Engineers, Corporate Officers, Purchasing Managers, Ship Managers, Superintendents, and others.
* Serve as the primary contact and communication link for major accounts.
* Locate, source, and secure required materials or equivalent products for customer needs.
* Visit customer sites as necessary to provide specialized support, such as technical guidance or product recommendations.
* Assess customer requirements and advise on appropriate company products.
* Prepare and deliver sales quotes and related information (price, quantities, shipping details, certifications, product applications, credit terms, etc.) via phone or email.
* Input quotes and sales orders into the company"s sales system.
* Investigate and resolve customer issues, discrepancies, or concerns.
* Use the inventory management system to check product availability across various warehouse locations.
* Review shipping options with customers and recommend the best method based on their requirements.
* Arrange and coordinate order shipments between customers and multiple warehouses.
Requirements:
*Associate degree in a technical discipline is required; a bachelor's degree in engineering, math, science, or business is preferred.
* Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) to access vessels; the company will cover the cost.
* 2+ years of prior sales experience or work in a comparable role.
* Background in the maritime industry is required.
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Valid Driver's License and Driving Record
