Refining communication across the globe..., our clientele spans from domestic to international, encompassing both commercial and government sectors, showcasing our adaptability to diverse communication needs worldwide. Viasat is looking for a creative, bright, and innovative Program Manager to work at the forefront of what makes us successful. This is an outstanding opportunity to collaborate with our dedicated engineers in developing and supporting technology programs within Viasat's Aviation business.
We are seeking a Program Manager to lead programs for enterprise mobility new customer onboarding. In this role you will facilitate the software development and delivery phase of programs from inception through Entry into Service. The candidate will have experience working with a variety of engineering teams (system architects, software, special test equipment, integration, and test), managing schedule and performance risk, meeting commitments and anticipating and circumventing problems. In addition, you will be developing stakeholder relationships and working effectively with functional areas within the company. You will be leading, directing, and motivating cross-discipline teams across multiple organizations and geographic sites.
The Program Manager works with business, engineering development and product management teams to help facilitate the execution of projects / programs and to improve end to end operational efficiency of engineering domains. The PM helps accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization through building effective relationships with business leaders, project teams and project stakeholders.
The PM should have a foundational knowledge of theories, practices and procedures related to Program/Project management. The PM should be able to apply knowledge and skills to complete their assigned work autonomously with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has a background in Program/Project management, Scrum/Agile, software development or testing, and a mindset centered around critical thinking.
The day-to-day
The Program Manager will be working closely with Aviation account management teams, product management, and software engineering. The PM will manage intake of new software delivery requests, perform work triage, define and document scope, plan delivery, and manage the execution of the software delivery. You will also be presenting project status, schedules, and metrics to account management teams, collaborators, and Program Management leadership. The PM will manage risks, drive resolution of bugs, coordinate software release, and manage scope changes.
What you'll need
4+ years of experience in Project Management in software development, as described above
Demonstrated ability to monitor, lead and report project level milestones, risks, issues, and decisions
Extensive problem-solving skills, and ability to drive resolutions to closure
Demonstrated ability understand complex systems at a system architectural level
Ability to lead project communications internally to teams/partners/leadership and externally to customers
4+ years experience leading technical teams on Software development projects
Organization skills to handle multiple projects concurrently, for multiple customers
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and intrapersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels in the organization
Understanding and experience with project management methodologies and standard processes
Experience working within Agile Development Frameworks
Experience handling project scope and deliverables, including change control methodologies
US Citizenship or permanent residence required

Salary range
$120,000.00 - $189,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $132,000.00- $198,000.00/ annually
