A leading provider in the high-precision spindle industry, this company specializes in the repair, rebuild, manufacturing, and support of high-speed electric spindles for CNC machines, automated manufacturing systems, robotic applications, and both new and legacy precision machining equipment. With decades of experience since the mid-1990s, the organization has rebuilt and remanufactured tens of thousands of spindles, delivering better-than-original performance (often within 2 microns precision), rapid turnaround times, industry-leading warranties, and advanced solutions like inline health monitoring, onsite diagnostics, and custom engineering. Serving critical sectors including metalworking, woodworking, plastics, composites, stone/marble, glass, and robotics, the company is recognized for its commitment to minimizing customer downtime, driving innovation in spindle technology, and providing single-source reliability in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Headquartered in Bessemer City, North Carolina (near Charlotte), it operates as a stable, growing, privately held specialist with a collaborative, lean culture focused on excellence, continuous improvement, and customer success.

As Technical Operations Manager, you will lead on-site repair services operations at our Bessemer City, NC facility, reporting directly to the President. This hands-on leadership role oversees the full spindle service lifecycle—from initial receipt and disassembly through advanced diagnostics, precision machining, optimization, reassembly, rigorous testing, and final delivery—to ensure every spindle meets or exceeds customer expectations for performance and reliability. You will manage a skilled team of technicians, machinists, and engineers in a dynamic, technical manufacturing setting while driving operational efficiency, quality adherence, and customer satisfaction in a high-demand service environment that combines deep CNC spindle expertise with strategic operations management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and manage daily spindle repair and production operations, optimizing workflow, resource allocation, and throughput in the repair facility to meet aggressive turnaround goals.
  • Hire, train, develop, and lead a technical workforce including spindle technicians, machinists, electro-mechanical specialists, and engineers focused on high-precision spindle repair and assembly.
  • Establish and enforce robust quality control processes, conduct root-cause failure analysis, review design specifications and repair data, and maintain compliance with ISO standards and other quality protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, customer service, engineering, and purchasing teams to generate accurate service quotes, manage project timelines, provide progress updates to customers, and resolve technical inquiries.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks, lead continuous improvement and lean initiatives, control costs, and manage inventory for critical service components, motor rewinds, bearings, sensors, and close-tolerance machined parts used in repairs and prototype development.
  • Offer expert technical oversight on complex spindle failures involving bearings, shafts, motors, sensors, electrical systems, and related components; guide diagnostic processes, recommend repair vs. rebuild strategies, and direct corrective actions to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Support cross-functional projects, including new spindle development, retrofits, custom engineering solutions, and implementation of monitoring technologies to enhance service offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in CNC spindle repair, rebuild, and assembly, with in-depth knowledge of industrial high-speed spindles, electro-mechanical systems, precision machining, motor technologies, bearings, sensors, and failure diagnostics.
  • Strong operations management background leading manufacturing, repair, or technical service teams in a customer-focused, fast-paced environment, preferably in precision machinery or industrial equipment sectors.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex spindle and motor issues, implementing reliable, long-term repair solutions.
  • Superior leadership and communication abilities, with experience collaborating across all levels—including senior management, sales, engineering, purchasing, skilled trades technicians, and end-user customers—to align on goals and deliver results.
  • Familiarity with quality systems (ISO or equivalent), root-cause analysis tools, production scheduling, inventory management, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., lean principles).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience in spindle/CNC repair operations will be considered.
  • Ability to thrive in a hands-on, on-site leadership role requiring technical depth, team motivation, and a commitment to precision and customer service excellence.

Compensation and Benefits:

The position offers a competitive base salary in the range of $105,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. As a key member of the leadership team, you will also participate in a management incentive plan tied to company growth and profitability. The comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, wellness programs, and additional perks supporting work-life balance. This role provides significant opportunities for career advancement, increased responsibility, and professional development in a forward-thinking environment where you can contribute to both strategic initiatives and daily operational success while working with cutting-edge spindle and robotic technologies in a respected, specialized industry leader.
