Position Overview
The Automotive Training & Development Consultant is responsible for the analysis, research, development, and delivery of manufacturing process and technical launch training with on-site support at OEM vehicle assembly plants. This role supports vehicle launches by improving plant personnel understanding of complex vehicle systems, electrical architectures, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site training and technical support at OEM vehicle assembly plants
  • Instruct and consult plant process and repair personnel to improve understanding of vehicle systems and subsystems
  • Present and demonstrate efficient diagnostic and repair methods for vehicle assembly and electrical system deficiencies
  • Conduct root cause analysis to accurately identify causes of vehicle and assembly issues
  • Serve as the training liaison between product/manufacturing engineering and general assembly
  • Create, design, and develop training materials related to vehicle assembly processes, electrical harness manufacturing, system architectures, and schematics
  • Communicate and share lessons learned and training materials across multiple plant locations
  • Analyze and identify future training needs for OEM assembly plants
  • Support plant launch meetings and provide training reports to management and launch teams
  • Interface with engineering teams, component suppliers, and vendors to validate and develop training content prior to Start of Regular Production (SORP)
  • Research and compile engineering schematics, service information, engineering documents, math data, and manufacturing reports for inclusion in training materials

Required Skills
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as an automotive instructional designer, training developer, automotive instructor, or manufacturing instructor
  • Demonstrated advanced diagnostic knowledge of automotive systems
  • Knowledge of OEM manufacturing tracking and reporting systems
  • Knowledge of OEM dynamic vehicle testing systems
  • Ability to develop professional training materials using pre-launch documents
  • Ability to read and interpret digital multimeters, OEM diagnostic scan tools, and diagnostic test equipment
  • Ability to conduct one-on-one and group training presentations
  • Ability to interpret early-stage engineering electrical schematic diagrams
  • Ability to read OEM supplier electrical harness prints
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Extensive travel flexibility (up to 75%)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • ASE certifications
  • Demonstrated technical and process training presentation skills
  • Automotive technical assistance center experience

Preferred / Additional Skills
  • OEM vehicle launch support experience
  • Electrical system architecture training experience
  • Manufacturing process improvement exposure

Education Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology, Engineering, or related discipline
    OR
  • High school diploma with 8 years of relevant automotive training or instructional experience

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work performed in both classroom and plant environments
  • Exposure to automotive fumes, fluids, noise, sharp edges, and bump hazards requiring continuous PPE use
  • Classroom duties include standing, sitting, walking, bending, and frequent near-vision computer use
  • Frequent physical activity including sitting, standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and object manipulation
  • Regular handling of materials up to 35 pounds; heavier materials with assisted lifting equipment
  • Manual dexterity and coordination required over 70% of work time in plant environments
