ABOUT THE ROLE
The Technical Business Analyst / Product Manager will lead the definition, development, and delivery of digital and data-driven solutions supporting upstream oil and gas investments. This role blends upstream domain expertise, technical fluency, and stakeholder management, with hands-on ownership of requirements, analytics, and product delivery across investment and portfolio company needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own and document detailed business and technical requirements for upstream analytics, reporting, and data platforms
  • Translate upstream workflows including production, reserves, land, economics, and A&D into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Act as Product Owner for assigned digital initiatives, managing product roadmaps, backlogs, and release priorities
  • Design, validate, and maintain analytical models, dashboards, and reporting solutions for investment and asset teams
  • Work directly with structured datasets in relational databases to extract, validate, and analyze data using SQL
  • Partner with engineering and data teams to support data pipelines, system integrations, and automation initiatives
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across internal and third-party upstream data sources
  • Support M&A and A&D diligence through technical data analysis, asset-level performance evaluation, and quality-of-earnings support
  • Develop repeatable diligence frameworks, templates, and analytics to accelerate deal execution
  • Assist with post-acquisition integration and ongoing portfolio performance tracking
  • Serve as the primary interface between investment professionals, portfolio company operators, and technical teams
  • Communicate complex technical findings clearly to business and investment audiences
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives, timelines, and priorities in a fast-paced private equity environment

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to data quality
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with relational databases with required SQL proficiency
  • Solid understanding of upstream oil and gas data, metrics, and asset evaluation concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and business audiences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in a Technical Business Analyst, Product Manager, or Product Owner role
  • Python experience
  • Prior exposure to private equity, investment teams, or upstream portfolio companies
  • Experience supporting M&A or A&D diligence
  • Familiarity with upstream systems, data platforms, or analytics
