Technical Accounting Manager

Our client, located near Springfield, NJ is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager for a long-term consulting engagement.


This role is hybrid.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim Technical Accountant to support our finance and accounting team during a period of transition. This individual will bring strong expertise in SEC reporting and technical accounting and will play a key role in researching, interpreting, and implementing complex accounting guidance while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.

This role requires a hands-on professional with a CPA and Big 4 public accounting background who can quickly integrate into the team and provide technical accounting leadership on critical matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and accounting matters under U.S. GAAP
• Research and document accounting conclusions, including preparation of technical accounting memos
• Support the preparation and review of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, and related disclosures)
• Interpret and apply accounting standards related to:
• • ASC 420 – Exit or Disposal Cost Obligations / restructuring activities
  • ASC 815 – Derivatives and Hedging
  • ASC 280 – Segment Reporting
• Partner with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to assess accounting implications of strategic or operational decisions
• Assist with disclosure requirements and technical accounting analysis related to restructuring initiatives, derivatives activity, and segment reporting
• Support external auditors during quarterly and year-end audit reviews

Qualifications

• CPA required
• Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant technical accounting and SEC reporting
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Direct experience with ASC 420, ASC 815, and ASC 280
• Strong technical research, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to operate independently and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
