Job Title: Instructional Designer  
Location: Dearborn, MI OR Franklin, TN
Job Type: 1-year W2 Contract (with possible extension)
Expected hours per week: 40 hours per week
Schedule: 8am to 5pm EST (Hybrid - 4 days/week in office)
Pay: $37 per hour

Summary

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, testing, and continuously improving engaging and effective learning solutions. This role supports a variety of learning modalities, including eLearning, instructor-led training (ILT), and blended learning.

The Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with Learning & Development (L&D) partners, subject matter experts (SMEs), and business stakeholders to conduct performance consulting, analyze learning needs, and deliver scalable, high-quality learning experiences. The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and instructional quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Agile) to analyze learning needs and define measurable learning objectives
  • Design interactive learning experiences, including outlines, storyboards, and learning flows
  • Develop self-paced eLearning and synchronous/virtual learning solutions
  • Leverage adult learning principles to create engaging, learner-centered content
  • Analyze learner behavior and engagement using clickstream data to improve learning effectiveness and user experience

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently from intake and stakeholder alignment through delivery and post-implementation review
  • Partner with SMEs, L&D team members, and stakeholders to ensure learning solutions align with business goals
  • Communicate project status, risks, and timelines clearly and consistently

Training & Development Delivery

  • Develop blended learning solutions including eLearning, virtual workshops, job aids, and certification programs
  • Build courses using industry-standard authoring tools such as Articulate Rise and Storyline
  • Incorporate multimedia elements using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Vyond, and Camtasia
  • Support deployment and maintenance of learning content, including SCORM packaging and LMS compatibility

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Expertise with eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Vyond, Captivate, Camtasia)
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design best practices
  • Experience designing learning solutions across multiple modalities (eLearning, instructor-led, blended)
  • Experience analyzing and applying clickstream data to evaluate learner engagement and improve learning outcomes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with SMEs and stakeholders at various levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail, time-management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to quickly learn and explain technical concepts to diverse audiences

Preferred Experience

  • 4+ years of experience designing and developing learning solutions for adult learners
  • 4+ years of experience developing in Articulate Rise or similar authoring tools
  • 4+ years of experience collaborating with professionals at multiple organizational levels
  • 4+ years of experience developing presentations in PowerPoint
  • Experience with SCORM package deployment and LMS management
  • Experience in graphic design and video production
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud
