Teaching Assistant – Juvenile Correctional Facility
The Teaching Assistant supports classroom instruction in a juvenile correctional facility. This role supervises students when the teacher is absent and helps students complete assigned work while maintaining a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise students and manage classroom behavior
- Take attendance and monitor assignments and daily records
- Assist students with lessons and assignments left by the teacher
- Follow safety policies and maintain confidentiality
- Participate in meetings, training, and required certifications
- Work with school staff and other departments to support student learning
- Complete reports and perform other assigned duties
Job Requirements
- High school diploma (required)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow lesson plans and manage a classroom independently
- Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment
- Ability to work well in a team and accept supervision
- Must pass drug screening and complete required training
- Substitute teaching permit and prior experience with students (preferred)
Schedule & Location
- Onsite position in a juvenile correctional facility
- Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM (37.5 hours/week)
- 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Onsite training up to 3 weeks

- Next orientation: February 23, 2026
- Candidate must be available to start on this date
