The tax manager will manage CLW's day-to-day tax function, working with internal and external partners to ensure compliance to tax laws, accurate tax-related financial reporting, simplification of internal processes, and minimization of tax obligations across entities when applicable.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Tax Reporting and Compliance


Managed the completion of accurate federal and state income tax returns (including apportionment calculations) working with co-source partner being the go-to person for all information requests
Monitor and ensure compliance with regulations at the federal, state, and local level and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders
Manage income tax provision preparation with co-sourced partner
Manage sales tax filings with co-sourced partner
Manage property tax filing and payment

Manage Co-Sourcing & Other External Partnerships


Oversee third-party co-sourcing arrangements
Explore value-creation and tax-minimization strategies with co-sourced partners
Utilize knowledge of tax law to develop strategic tax planning initiatives.
Manage relationships with external auditors on tax matters

Internal Tax Accounting and Forecasting


Manage day-to-day internal accounting for tax-related entries for tax and book balance sheets including collaborating with other departments
Forecast large tax-related cashflows
Ad Hoc analysis as needed

Key Competencies & Attributes


Strong understanding of critical financial business metrics; ability to develop and leverage drive data to quantitively and analytically make business decisions and take smart risks
Able to think strategically and act tactically
Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed and highly collaborative environment to drive change
High degree of business curiosity; quick learner with a proactive and agile mindset
Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal); able to present complex material in a compelling way to senior managers and non-technical staff
Demonstrated strong change management skills, aligning and bringing others along

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Education & Experience


Bachelor's Degree required (Field of study: Accounting /Finance)
CPA Required (inactive OK)
Minimum of three years of experience in tax

Skills & Abilities


Other Preferences (e.g., certification, license: CPA/CMA)
Excel
Tax Research Abilities - Advanced
Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
Ability to analyze data, recognize when problems exist and research solutions.

Other Key Job Requirements


Some mental visual, physical fatigue from computer terminal use.
Primarily office environment, Spokane, WA.
Some flexibility to work remotely from home.
Some travel required (up to 25%).
