Position Summary: The Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) & AA Leadership Instructor/SME provides expert classroom and practical instruction in Air Advisor tactics, mission operations, and leadership competencies for USAF and partner personnel. The SME shapes coursework, delivers scenario-based and technical lessons, evaluates students, and keeps the curriculum current with evolving operational best practices. This role is critical to equipping Air Advisors with the knowledge and confidence to engage and lead in complex mission environments worldwide
Duties and Responsibilities:
These services are required to support unique efforts which may require:
- Meet minimum USAF EOS Student and Qualified Instructor requirements at government expense and IAW EOS-established policy
- Serve as the focal point and SME in their respective discipline. When qualified, be prepared to assist and teach lessons in other disciplines as determined by the Site Manager.
- Provide technical support, planning, consultation, analysis and expert advice to establish, maintain, and improve their respective area's instruction.
- Develop, update, revise, and deliver their respective area's curriculum and courseware within USAF EOS-established policy.
- Provide instruction on National Security Strategy, DoD regulations, Irregular Warfare, and more
- Ensure the most current student education and training materials are used and are provided to each student at the beginning of each lesson, as required
- Produce, assemble, and manage student materials as required to include paper and/or electronic (DVDs, etc.) based training materials provided by the Government
- Prepare classroom for instruction and ensure academic equipment, projectors, televisions, computer learning stations, etc., including uploading of computer-based training, if applicable, are functional
- Begin each lesson on time and teach for the prescribed amount of time IAW the student schedule unless the COR authorizes a schedule deviation
- Perform instruction/demonstration and student evaluations as required by the syllabi and lesson plan. Maintain satisfactory or above on Government administered instructor evaluations.
- Review learning objectives with students in preparation for examinations
- Follows USAF EOS-established policy for make-up/remedial instruction for missed classes or failed examinations
- Attend meetings, conferences, and symposiums on topics related to their area of expertise and participate in instructor professional development
- Be prepared to teach lessons as directed by the Site Manager to balance instructor workload and to meet mission requirements
Specific Duties Related to Type of Instructor:
- Provide instruction and evaluations to students on the latest Air Advisor related Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures.
- Teach subjects such as, but not limited to Air Advisor Roles and Responsibilities, Key Traits for Advisors, Advisory Operations, Instructor Fundamentals, Mission Planning, Interpreter Application, Fundamentals of Advising, Cybersecurity Policies, Information & Intelligence in Support of AA Activities, Public Affairs and Media Relations, Area Study/Mission Analysis, Capabilities Based Assessment, AOR Update with Current Threat Brief, OPSEC Training and Counter-Intelligence Awareness Brief, Strategic Agility, Key Leader Engagement, Country Security Forces Assessment, Mission Operations, Leader/Influence Competencies, etc.
- Provide instruction on media relations and dealing with the media, to include mock interviews and tape editing for classroom playback.
- Provide instruction on the fundamentals of conducting an operating environment analysis.
- Provide students with mission specific task information/analysis as required.
- Liaison with AFSOC, USAF EC TTP section, Air Force Geographic Component Commands, MAJCOMs, and other advisor organizations to ensure curriculum remains relevant and current.
- Assist in writing and updating Air Advisor TTPs.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance
- Fluent English, advanced communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship/Residency required
- Must possess a valid passport and driver's license
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Have deployed as a Military Advisor, Political-Military (Pol-Mil) Affairs Strategists (PAS) Officer, Regional Affairs Strategists (RAS) Officer, Foreign Area Officer (FAO), Foreign Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) member, attaché or security assistance officer (SCO), or in a position equivalent to one of the above having military advisory experience.
- Completed Air Command and Staff College, Senior NCO Academy, or sister school equivalent, in-residence or by correspondence
- Ability to collaborate and present in a classroom and cross-functional setting
- Professional conduct and compliance with all USAF EC policies
- Ability to teach, present, and manage classroom environments
- Some lifting/moving of teaching materials/equipment; ability to stand for extended periods
Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
