Boeing Defense, Space & Security has multiple new exciting opportunities in BDS Engineering Safety, Certification & Airworthiness organization. 

We are seeking a System Engineer Applicant Integration Senior Manager. The position is available at the following locations: Tukwila or Everett, WA; Berkeley, MO; Oklahoma City; Ridley Park, PA

The position requires highly motivated leaders to help lead our Safety, Certification, and Quality integration strategies. As an integration senior manager (Level M), you will lead, integrate, and support various aspects of airworthiness safety, certification, and quality integration for BDS Engineering, as well as serve as the certification capability leader for the Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers (MS&B) Division.

The purpose of BDS’ Safety, Certification & Airworthiness Team is to strengthen and integrate safety, certification, and airworthiness execution across BDS to ensure optimal project initiation, execution, and delivery in support of all customers.  The primary purpose of the MS&B capability leader role is to conduct resource planning across the division in support of the Safety & Airworthiness function and support MS&B program execution needs in the area of airworthiness certification.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manages employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Systems Engineering and Airworthiness Certification.

  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.

  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.

  • Responsible for implementing Safety Assurance (SA) processes for performance monitoring and measurement, performance assessment and continuous improvement

  • Strengthen Applicant role and mindset, and compliance finder/Applicant separation

  • Functional or supplier problem solving teams

  • Lead the Certification & Airworthiness Integration across BDS and interdependent SAW

  • Drive FAA, International and U.S. Military Airworthiness Authority Applicant accountability and advocacy across BDS and interdependent SAW compliance organizations.  

  • Partner with BDS project teams to identify E-UM and/or CVE requirements to support project execution

  • Provide Applicant Advocacy & Oversight through Applicant Functional Excellence Review NPRM, MOCs, issue papers and other regulatory material as Boeing advocate

  • Partner with engineering leadership and program managers maintaining a collaborative culture of sound judgment for product compliance and safety

  • Assist in implementing and driving a culture which eliminates regulator interference and undue pressure

  • Provide compliance Oversight Leadership, and Applicant tools, command media, and training to strengthen Applicant compliance and execution

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance post start for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelors, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Manager leading engineering teams

  • Experience in airplane level systems integration or airplane level thinking

  • 2+ years of leading cross functional teams or projects

  • Team builder and leadership of cross functional initiatives

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate to both executives and engineers at all levels

  • 2+ years in a formal engineering management leadership role

  • Previous experience on or leading an Engineering team

  • Experience with Airplane Integration, Lean, BPSM

  • Foundational background and experience with Safety Management and Regulatory Administration

  • Able to apply Data Analytics to analyze and assess risk, KPI’s and SPI’s

  • Strong execution orientation and project management

  • Ability to effectively manage relationships with regulators

  • Ability to adapt to discoveries and leverage team experiences
