Survey Project Manager

We’re seeking a Survey Project Manager with a strong background in field crew supervision, mapping, and construction staking to oversee survey projects across California. This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives on managing people, processes, and projects — ensuring everything stays on schedule, within budget, and aligned with regional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support field crews, providing daily direction and mentorship
Coordinate closely with project engineers, analysts, clients, and contractors
Schedule crews, manage budgets, and monitor project scope and progress
Write proposals and prepare detailed cost estimates for new work
Create CAD drawings for various survey types, including boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and as-built surveys
Process submittals and interface with city and county agencies
Oversee construction bid documentation and contract workflows
Engage directly with clients and agency representatives to ensure seamless project execution
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in office mapping, ideally in California
Minimum 3 years in a leadership role managing project staff
Strong knowledge of California jurisdictional codes, permitting processes, and agency requirements
Technical Skills:
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D (for staking calculations and mapping)
Experience preparing legal descriptions, boundary analyses, and closure calculations
Working knowledge of construction phasing, site constraints, and cost estimating
Familiarity with software such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Trimble Business Center; Carlson software is a plus
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to build positive client and stakeholder relationships
Highly organized with excellent time and task management
