The minimum requirements for this position are:
- High school diploma preferred or GED diploma.
- 1-3 years experience working in AutoCAD and/or as an Instrument Operator and/or Rodman - PREFFERED.
- Requires good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work extended hours, including Saturdays and ability to travel out of town for extended periods of time.
- Candidates should be able to handle extremes of outdoor work conditions in all seasons.
- Valid Arizona Drivers License or ability to secure license upon employment.
- Must be familiar with the basic types of land surveying and terminology, and be knowledgeable about the field duties.
Responsibilities
- Transmits survey data to proper files in the computer network and acquire data for field use.
- Accurately and efficiently clears line, establish points, tape, chain and level for field survey projects as assigned by Party Chief.
- Keep crew’s assigned vehicle clean, properly maintained, and stocked with the necessary equipment and supplies as instructed by the Party Chief. Report any mechanical or safety related problems to the Party Chief.
- Load for transportation, clean and store field surveying equipment used by the crew.
Communicate and coordinate effectively with other crew members to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects. - Accurately identify the various types of trees encountered while performing field survey work.
- Assist in the training of entry level rodmen as requested.
- Cuts and clears brush and trees from line of survey.
- Read and interpolate survey maps, construction plans and utility plans.
- Compute, process, and map field data in an organized manner.

- Communicate and coordinate effectively with other members to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.
- Stand, walk, use hands, tools, controls, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.
- Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites.
The candidate will work with professional staff engaged in various duties including: assist the Land Survey Party Chief in completing the crew’s assigned field survey projects, processing field data, trouble shooting field data, performing deed and utility research, running traverse closures, reducing level notes, finalize survey drawings, and performing work with field crew. The position requires good basic math skills related to surveying, good verbal and written communication skills and the motivation to follow instructions completely and accurately while working in rough terrain and inclement weather.
