Description

Assists the pharmacy leadership in coordinating daily operational, organizational, training and educational activities of the Pharmacy Technician staff and other assigned staff to provide for a well trained, smoothly operating department. This position will coordinate the daily activities, and where applicable acts as immediate supervisor for all support personnel including Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns while working for the department as Technicians, Pharmacy Technician Interns/students, and any volunteer personnel. This position will assist in the development of and set standards to meet the educational requirements for the Technical support staff & assist in the implementation and maintenance of performance improvement projects. This position will act as a liaison between the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy management, and will have decision making authority , where applicable and permitted, in certain situations in the absence of the pharmacy management. Understands major job responsibilities of all Technical support staff and is able to perform those duties as required. Understands and able to train staff on USP 797/800 compounding and other compliance standards related to our P&P and regulatory requirements. Responsible for organizing and coordination of new employee orientation, competency assessment, retraining or other in-services as needed for Pharmacy Technicians. Accountable for evaluating staff performance and assisting with the selection of staff. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for reviewing completed schedules, daily schedule maintenance for sick calls and work load/flow adjustments and annual performance evaluations of their direct reports. Performs all duties in a manner, which promotes team concepts and reflects Providence St. Joseph Health's mission and philosophy. Required Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Upon hire: Washington Pharmacy Technician License
  • 2 years acute care operational and clinical pharmacy experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strongly Preferred one year IV admixture experience (USP 797/800)
  • Strongly Preferred one year of supervisor experience

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
