Job Summary:

Provide direction and guidance to Victim Advocates. Organize workflow of Victim Advocates. Ensure that Advocates understand their duties or delegated tasks. Monitor Victim Advocates productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching. This position is responsible for assisting victims of crime in obtaining services from social services agencies, criminal justice system, medical and educational personnel. Victim Advocate Supervisor also provides service management, advocacy, support, crisis intervention, safety planning, lethality assessments, and follow-up services to survivors of domestic violence and their families. Victim services to others may include victims of other crimes.

Job Duties:

Provide direction and guidance to Victim Advocate Staff. Organize staff workflow, set “on call” schedule. Assist Manager, Administrative Operations with grant reporting and data base. Monitor staff productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching. Pass on information from upper management to employees and vice versa. Train new staff on policy and procedures. Provide advocacy, lethality assessments, safety planning, information, referrals, service management, crisis intervention, and follow-up services to victims so they may have the choices, support, and linkages necessary for them to be successful in pursuing a violence-free live. Promotes client’s self-sufficiency by counseling clients in modifying attitudes, patterns of behavior and assessing the employability of a client. Develops an Individual Service Plan which outlines strengths and weaknesses and identifies short term and long-term goals. Establish and maintain working relationships with local, state, federal and all tribal agencies. Assist victims in obtaining transitional housing through the development of a Transitional Housing Program. Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, education, advocacy, and referrals telephone and digital contacts as appropriate in a calm, professional manner. Maintain standards of conducts that are empowerment based and non-judgmental. Collect demographic information on all phone calls and client contacts. Maintain all documentation required. Collect and maintain statistical data and/or reports required by Federal Grants, funding sources, and any other monitoring agency. Submit necessary documents as required. Enter all client services and referrals into database and assist program administration in keeping the database system updated. Refer clients to the service providers as appropriate. Participate in all evaluation efforts. Respond to contact/client request for Victim Service materials (i.e., Brochures, flyers, posters, handouts, and other promotional materials). Assist in overall office administration and maintenance. Assist Manager/Supervisor and Executive Director in determining yearly goals and implementing active steps to achieve these goals. Participate in community outreach by developing and maintaining awareness of agency services, networking with area service providers, and eliciting support for the Family Crisis Centers through public speaking, working with local media, participation in community activities and fundraising. Identify potential volunteers and assist with staff/volunteer training. Provide public education about victimizations. Attend and participate in agency and staff meetings on a regular basis as appropriate. Complete the initial training and certification requirements, complete additional training as required, and maintain on-going certification requirements. Provide notification of hearing dates and changes of hearing dates to victims. Provide Court transportation alternatives for victims. Flexible work schedule. Other duties may be assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly supervises 5 to 20 employees in the One Fire Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT 

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT 

An additional three (3) years of experience in a related field.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS 

An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

The Oklahoma Victim Assistance Academy (OVAA) certification is required.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

 

Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.
