Duration: 12 Month Contract

Job Description
Serve as a trusted functional and business architecture advisor for Workforce Management, guiding the business on how to design and realize value from modern scheduling, dispatch, and mobility capabilities grounded in SAP standard solutions and integration patterns. The role ensures business ambition is translated into implementable, sustainable SAP designs without unnecessary customization or long-term technical debt.

Core Advisory Focus Areas
1. Functional & Business Architecture (SAP-Grounded)
  • Act as a business-facing architect who understands both:
    • How the business wants to operate
    • How SAP Workforce Management solutions actually work
  • Advise on end-to-end functional architecture across:
    • Scheduling
    • Dispatch
    • Mobility / field execution
  • Guide business leaders in shaping requirements that align to SAP FSM, SAP Service and Asset Manager (SSAM), and SAP S/4HANA capabilities.
  • Help the business distinguish between:
    • What is natively supported by SAP
    • What requires configuration
    • What should not be customized
  • Ensure business future state designs can be implemented without breaking the SAP clean core or creating upgrade risk.

2. Scheduling & Dispatch Business Intent to SAP Reality
  • Advise on scheduling and dispatch models that are operationally sound and SAP-realistic, including:
    • Rule-based vs. optimization-driven scheduling in FSM
    • Dispatch models that balance automation with human control
  • Translate business goals (e.g., faster response, better utilization, reduced overtime) into practical SAP scheduling constructs.
  • Surface common pitfalls, such as:
    • Over-customizing scheduling logic instead of fixing master data and work definitions
    • Designing dispatch rules that SAP can technically execute but operations cannot sustain
    • Forcing SAP to replicate legacy behavior rather than leveraging standard capabilities

3. Mobility & Field Execution Architecture
  • Advise the business on how mobility solutions (SSAM, FSM, Mirata, Lemur) support:
    • Work execution
    • Asset data capture
    • Crew productivity
  • Guide realistic expectations around:
    • Offline usage
    • Data synchronization
    • Usability constraints
  • Ensure mobility design aligns with SAP S/4 asset and work order structures, avoiding duplication or fragmentation of data.
  • Help business leaders understand how poor mobility design directly undermines adoption and value realization.

4. Automation & AI
  • Provide pragmatic guidance on automation and AI potential within SAP-centric WFM landscapes, including:
    • Automated work assignment and re-optimization in FSM
    • Predictive demand and capacity planning
    • AI-assisted dispatch decision support
  • Advise on what must be in place first (clean data, stable processes, consistent asset models) for automation to work.
  • Help the business avoid investing in AI use cases that SAP cannot reliably support without heavy customization or external workarounds.

5. Value Realization & Design Consequences
  • Connect WFM design decisions to measurable outcomes such as:
    • Capacity gains
    • Overtime reduction
    • First-time completion
    • Asset reliability
  • Advise on how SAP design choices either:
    • Enable sustained value realization, or
    • Create fragility that erodes benefits postgo-live
  • Clearly articulate the downstream consequences of poor decisions, including:
    • Automation being disabled
    • Dispatch instability
    • Loss of field trust
    • Rework in later releases

Required Experience & Expertise
Required
  • Senior functional or business architect experience in Workforce Management.
  • Deep expertise in scheduling, dispatch, and mobility.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP FSM and SAP Service and Asset Manager (SSAM).
  • Ability to translate business ambition into SAP-implementable designs without excessive customization.
  • Executive communication skills.
Strongly Preferred
  • Utility industry experience (gas, electric, or water).
  • Asset Management knowledge and its intersection with workforce execution.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and SAP IS-U integration.
  • Exposure to Mirata and/or Lemur platforms.
