POSITION SUMMARY: Assist Lakeshore's Child Care Center teachers in planning and carrying out a variety of activities with the children enrolled in the child care center such as music, science, art, math, and literature. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction. #LI-DNI

Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):
(100%) Child Care Support
- Provide group music, science, art, math, and literature activities for children enrolled in Lakeshore's Child Care Center.
- Supervise children in daily activities.
- Provide large and small muscle development, encourage social interaction and creative expression and provide intellectual stimulation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education classes at Lakeshore College and pursuing a minimum of six credits per semester.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
- Must be 18 years old and have satisfactorily completed one course for credit in Early Childhood Education or its equivalent, OR selected candidate enrolls in that course within six months after hire.
- Infant/Child CPR and First Aid is required to be completed within 30 days of employment.
- DCF Approved Abusive Head Trauma Training is required to be completed within 30 days of employment.
- Biennial Child Abuse and Neglect training required is required to be completed within 30 days of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work environment may require multi-tasking.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
CONDITION(S) OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Students may not begin working at the child care center until they receive preliminary eligibility through a DCF background check. New student employees may begin working at a childcare center with preliminary eligibility results but must be under supervision of someone with final eligibility until the new student employee receives final eligibility. Final eligibility is determined through a DCF/FBI fingerprint background check.
- Employment conditional on completion of a Background Information Disclosure (BID) with the results acceptable to the College.
- Student success always comes first, and it is expected that the student maintains average grades while employed. Failure to do so may result in their student help position being discontinued.
- Students must be active and enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester and/or enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program or it's equivalent.
