This opportunity with COMPANY supports structural engineering efforts within the Mission Critical Solution group, where infrastructure is designed to protect national security and support high‑consequence federal missions. Mission‑critical infrastructure includes the structural systems and foundations that must perform reliably without failure. COMPANY partners with the U.S. Federal Government to deliver secure, resilient planning and design solutions for federal facilities worldwide.
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Structural Staff Engineering Technician contributes to high‑quality structural engineering deliverables for complex facility projects. This role supports foundation and framing plans, elevations, sections, and details using Autodesk Revit, along with drawing reviews and markups in Bluebeam to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with design standards.
Key Skills
Must have experience with Foundations and Steel
Must be proficient in Autodesk Revit
Job Summary
Functions in a project engineering technician capacity
Develops and modifies technical deliverables under general direction
Applies foundational engineering principles to create moderately complex design concepts
Utilizes CAD/BIM/3D modeling tools to produce and maintain drawings and documentation
Provides technical guidance to other technicians and engineering professionals
Key Responsibilities
Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes, and COMPANY policies
Reviews project requirements and determines correct deliverable formats
Applies the COMPANY Quality Program and supports continuous improvement
Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and project standards
Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, and estimates
Reviews deliverables prepared by others
May define work assignments and maintain schedules
Coordinates with other design groups to exchange project information
Supports field activities as needed
Proactively seeks and shares knowledge of new technologies and processes
Education & Experience
Preferred:
Diploma or Certificate required
Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design‑related Technology preferred
Minimum:
Typically 5+ years of related structural engineering technician experience
Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, MVR, etc.)
