SUMMARY:
Performs structural engineering analysis and design in order to meet project and client requirements in the mining industrybyperformingthefollowingduties.
ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDETHE FOLLOWING:
1.Demonstratestechnicalexpertiseindisciplinaryfield
2.Meetstaskorprojecttimeandbudgetgoals
3.Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portion of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer. Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizesdiscrepanciesinresults,andfollowsoperationsthroughaseriesofrelateddetailedstepsor processes.
a.Responsibleforthestructuraldesign,designcriteriaandcodecomplianceforentirestructural systemsorprojects
b.Usesexperiencetoassistininitialstructurallayoutsandbeamsizing
c.Usesexperiencetohelpwithmaterialtake‐offestimatesforproposals
d.Communicates necessary structural information such as member sizes, connection, and welds, to othersforthepreparationofprojectdrawingsandspecifications
e.Understandmaterialspecificationsforthestructureandhasadevelopedunderstandingofrelevant steelcodesandbuildingcodes
f.Developsandcommunicatesstructuraldetailsofconnections,andproposesalternateframing solutionstostructuralsystemsasrequired
g.Perform structural analysis and design of structures such as steel supports for conveyors, crushers,screens, tanks, pipes and other equipment, and their foundations where appropriate
h.Preparedesigncriteria, includingall relevantloads onthestructure
i.Preparestructural2Dand3DdrawingsinCADsoftware
j.Preparematerialtake‐offsandbillofmateriallists
k.Reviewvendordocumentsforstructuralcomponents

QUALIFICATIONS:
Toperformthisjobsuccessfully,anindividualmustbeabletoperformeachessentialdutysatisfactorily.The requirementslistedbelowarerepresentativeoftheknowledge,skill,and/orabilityrequired.
MinimumEducation/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (Structural) in Engineering from an accredited college or university. Sixormoreyearsrelatedexperience.
LicenseP.E.ingoodstanding (desired, but not required)
PreferredEducation/Experience:
Master’s Degree form an accredited college or university desired, not required. Knowledgeofminingand/orbulkmaterialhandlingindustries.
ComputerSkills/Experience:
Drawing Software: 2D & 3D using AutoCad, Advance Steel, SolidWorks (desired but not required). DesignSoftware:RISA‐3Dorsimilar.
SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews designs of other structural engineers for code and design specification compliance. Uses experience to suggestinitialstructurallayoutstootherdisciplines.Mentorsstructuralengineeringinternsandotherbeginning structuralengineers.
JOBELEMENTS/WORKINGCONDITIONS:
Whileperformingthedutiesofthisjob,theemployeeisfrequentlyrequiredtositforlongperiods,talkandhear. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities requiredbythisjobincludeclosevisionandtheabilitytoadjustfocuswithanemphasisonabilitytoviewa computer screen for long periods, with periodic breaks. Travel may be required for various projects both nationally andinternationally.
