Under the moderate supervision of the Street Maintenance Supervisor, performs intermediate skilled trades work installing, repairing, and maintaining streets, sidewalks, curbs, drainage ways, and related facilities, operating various motorized equipment and related work as apparent or assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Patches, repairs, and maintains streets; shovels asphalt to fill in potholes; rebuilds road shoulders; digs ditches; rebuilds driving aprons.
• Installs, repairs and maintains storm drain facilities, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters; pours and finishes concrete; builds and sets forms; checks storm drains and cleans catch basins.
• Operates dump truck, boom truck, rubber tire loader, sweeper, backhoe, and a variety of hand tools in performance of maintenance and construction tasks; performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Maintains right-of-ways; clears debris; mows grass; picks up litter.
• Participates in clean-up activities at the conclusion of a project.
• Provides traffic control by flagging and/or placement of warning/control devices when required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in street maintenance including the operation of heavy motorized equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 2 years' experience setting forms, pouring and finishing concrete.

REQUIREMENTS:

Valid State Driver's License - CDL preferred, but not required.

Starting base rate is $19.00 hr. Rate of pay determined based on experience.
