Strategic Sourcing Specialist – Domestic Sourcing (Plastics Focus)

A multi-site manufacturer in the retail and distribution space is adding a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to own domestic sourcing with a plastics/category focus. If you like digging into process-driven cost drivers (tooling, cycle time, resin, scrap, labor, automation), this role has your name on it.
What you will do:
Build and execute domestic category strategies (with a plastics emphasis) aligned to cost, capability, and operational needs
Analyze market conditions and cost drivers, including:
resin and commodity trends
capacity/lead-time realities and supplier constraints
process and manufacturing cost drivers (molding/extrusion/thermoforming, secondary ops, automation, packaging, freight)
historical demand and pricing patterns
Develop and qualify suppliers; drive localization and dual-sourcing with cross-functional support
Lead negotiations for pricing, logistics, payment terms, and service levels
Draft/review/manage contracts for compliance, price, and acceptable terms
Evaluate supplier performance and manage conflict resolution when needed (quality, delivery, cost, communication)
Own cost reduction roadmaps tied to supplier base improvements
Partner closely with internal engineering/R&D and site teams as the supplier interface
Support annual budget forecasting and reporting (materials, tooling, and supplier spend)
Travel domestically as required to support supplier development and performance
What they are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent technical background)
Strong command of data analysis, structured thinking, and root-cause problem solving
Advanced Excel skills
ERP experience required; SAP preferred
Understanding of procurement math and cost modeling
Experience sourcing plastics categories and/or plastic component manufacturing knowledge strongly preferred
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
Willingness to travel domestically
