About the job

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line. In this role, you will be evaluating emerging technologies from foundries and key suppliers, such as next-generation process nodes and advanced packaging solutions, before they are widely available. Their strategic investments in these areas such as by participating in early-access programs or joint development agreements secure the company's position at the forefront of the custom silicon market. You will mitigate the risk of being left behind by participants, ensure a continuous pipeline of innovation, and guarantee access to the critical technologies needed to protect the business against obsolescence and supply chain disruptions.

The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible. We empower Google customers with breakthrough capabilities and insights by delivering AI and Infrastructure at unparalleled scale, efficiency, reliability and velocity. Our customers include Googlers, Google Cloud customers, and billions of Google users worldwide.

We're behind Google's groundbreaking innovations, empowering the development of AI models, delivering unparalleled computing power to global services, and providing the essential platforms that enable developers to build the future. From software to hardware our teams are shaping the future of world-leading hyperscale computing, with key teams working on the development of our TPUs, Vertex AI for Google Cloud, Google Global Networking, Data Center operations, systems research, and much more.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $144,000-$209,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. • Build integrated partnerships that align partner roadmaps with our long-term architectural goals.
  • Evaluate, and execute strategic investment opportunities (equity stakes, Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) partnerships, or Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) goals) within the semiconductor supply chain.
  • Focus on emerging technologies (e.g., silicon photonics, novel cooling, new materials) and startups that strengthen our supply chain resilience and technical capabilities, and conducting due diligence and build financial models to justify capital deployment to executive leadership.
  • Serve as the internal authority on semiconductor market dynamics, while monitoring geopolitical shifts, M&A activity, and participant ecosystem moves to anticipate supply chain risks and opportunities.
