The Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds (HKC) is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Administrative team. Working out of our administrative headquarters in Rockland County, the Staff Accountant will focus on the timely and accurate execution of all accounting functions. The individual in this role is responsible for supporting all daily accounting operations, maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, (GAAP).

ABOUT THE HENRY KAUFMANN CAMPGROUNDS

HKC, a small non-profit organization working in the Jewish day camp sphere, is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and supervision of 500+ acres of property across three locations: Long Island, Rockland County, and Staten Island.

As a seasonal organization, HKC hires 300 seasonal staff for our facilities management and aquatics teams to ensure we can carry out our mission to provide a safe environment and meet the needs of the camps who call HKC home.

THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT ROLE

The Staff Accountant, reporting to the CFO/COO, is a key member of the administrative staff, and will serve as the main accounting and payroll contact for HKC staff. Having primary responsibility for all accounting processes, the Staff Accountant will maintain strong internal controls, while maintaining the general ledger, manage cash flow, oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, the processing of payroll, and more. This individual will work with the CFO and administrative assistants to maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and non-profit standards and best practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or a related field, at least 3-years of professional accounting experience with a strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations and month-end close.

This individual needs to be proficient with QuickBooks and have proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically with Microsoft Excel. They should excel at managing multiple priorities, thrive when working independently and have strong interpersonal skills. The individual in this role should be able to work collaboratively, get along with diverse personalities, while demonstrating strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
