Staff Accountant for Established Nonprofit

About the Organization:

• Our client is a mid-sized nonprofit organization with over $200million in operating budgets and with over 50 programs. Their focus is on various ways to help the community through housing, education and providing medical benefits with people with disabilities and addictions. They are made up of smaller nonprofits all with the same mission statement and have been servicing the community for over 50 years.
• This role will be sitting out of their offices in the Bronx that has several train lines such as the B,D and bus lines that are accessible. There is also plenty of street parking
• The position will be reporting into the Controller and managing a team of accounting professionals. This will be a hybrid role of in person/remote

Duties will include:

• Day to day accounting functions including overseeing accounts payables and bank reconciliations
• Will also maintain the chart of accounts; prepare and post monthly entries and close-out accrued balance sheet accounts
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Prepare audit schedules and work with external auditors
• Produce ad hoc analysis reports and projects as requested
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Controller

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience required; nonprofit experience is a plus
• Experience with an accounting system such as Financial Edge Blackbaud, Fund-EZ, MIP, SAGE is a plus, strong Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
