Objectives of this Role:
- Work with a team of engineers and technicians to provide hands-on support for an experimental testing business involved in creating field-realistic process conditions (pressure, temperature, fluids) in a controlled test environment.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Install and remove piping components and assemblies, assist in assembling and disassembling test fixtures and mechanical hardware; load, unload, move materials and equipment for operations.
- Drive Institute vehicles and forklifts; operate cranes and other lifts.
- Assist in the servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical and fluid handling equipment.
- Assist in the installation and wiring of instrumentation.
- Support operations of elevated-pressure flow loop test facilities.
- Communicate with SwRI staff, customer, and vendors regarding work status, progress, problems/solutions, and results.
- Participate in continuous operational and safety improvement processes while working in a team environment with a collaborative approach.
Requirements:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years: Familiarity with mechanical tools, general laboratory equipment, and piping systems.
- 2-10 years: Related mechanical experience to include equipment repair, plumbing, plant/process/oilfield operations, HVAC, etc..
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.

- Defense and & Intelligence Solutions-Providing advanced direction finding and tracking systems through geolocation system development.
- Fuels and Lubricants Research-Performing fuels and lubricants research activities to meet regulatory and competitive goals.
- Intelligent Systems-Providing engineering services in resaerch and development of complex systems and equipment.
- Mechanical Engineering-Improving safety, reliability, efficiency and life of new or existing mechanical components or systems.
- Powertrain Engineering-Designing and developing vehicle and engine components to achieve performance and emissions goals.
- Space Science & Engineering-Developing and managing advanced scientific payloads aboard satellites and sounding rockets.
