SR. TECHNICIAN - TECHNICIAN - Lubricants Lab Technician

Who We Are:

We are the Petroleum Products Research Department in the Fuels and Lubricants Division! We perform laboratory testing on an assortment of fuels and lubricants from different types of vehicles and engines.

Objectives of this Role:
  • Develop an understanding of the chemical testing we provide by working with others in a team.
  • Support project leaders and other technical staff.
  • Perform chemical and instrument analyses on fuels, oils, and other petroleum products using standard test methods and Test Inspection Procedures (TIPs).
  • Safely prepare solutions or solvents for various tests and transfer samples from one area to another in the laboratory.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Communicate regularly with coworkers, supervisors, and project leaders regarding tests; must be able to work well with others in the lab environment.
  • Follow all written test procedures and written and verbal instructions.
  • Maintain workbooks and equipment on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), TIPs, and other procedures.
  • Troubleshoot problems encountered with test equipment and perform routine computations and manipulation to test data.
  • Meet client scheduled deadlines. Update and maintain control charts.
  • Must follow and adhere to safety requirements and adjust work schedule as needed to meet workload demands.
Requirements:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Related technical certifications or courses preferred, but not required.
  • Shift work required.
  • 2-10 years: Related work experience or academic lab experience in a laboratory.
  • 2-10 years: Experience using analytical balances.
  • 1-4 years: Computer skills (i.e. Excel and MS Word).
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
