Job Summary
The Senior Operations Engineer will lead complex, high impact initiatives focused on improving productivity, service, and cost performance across Medline’s distribution network. This role is part of the Operations Engineering organization and is specifically aligned to a KPI and analytics driven team responsible for sustained operational performance improvement.This position emphasizes data driven productivity optimization, slotting strategy, WMS execution logic, and branch level enablement. The Senior Engineer will partner closely with DC leadership, IT, and Project Engineering to translate analytics into measurable, repeatable operational gains.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Productivity & KPI Engineering
- Lead medium to large‑scale productivity improvement initiatives that directly impact Tier 1 and Tier 2 KPIs such as Lines Per Hour (LPH), cost per unit, service levels, Travel Distance and labor efficiency.
- Perform significant engineering and analytical work to diagnose performance gaps, validate hypotheses, and quantify improvement opportunities across labor, process, and system drivers.
- Develop variance analysis and root‑cause attribution models to explain changes in productivity and standard hours.
Slotting & Network Optimization
- Lead branch‑level and network‑level slotting initiatives for case and repack operations, treating slotting as a continuous optimization function rather than a one‑time project.
- Analyze customer, order profile, velocity, and business mix changes to recommend slotting strategies that improve travel distance, forward pick %, and replenishment efficiency.
- Track post‑implementation KPIs to ensure projected labor savings are realized and sustained.
WMS & Execution Logic Enablement
- Provide advanced engineering support for Warehouse Management System (WMS) execution, acting as a bridge between Operations, IT, and Engineering.
- Analyze and tune pick paths, work logic, parameters, and configurations to improve execution efficiency and reduce non‑value‑added labor.
- Support operational validation of system changes to ensure solutions are execution‑ready, not just technically correct.
Branch Support & Execution Enablement
- Partner directly with Distribution Center leadership to convert analytics and engineering insights into actionable execution plans.
- Lead KPI reviews, performance diagnostics, and PDCA‑based improvement plans at the branch level.
- Provide coaching and guidance to improve execution consistency and reinforce standard work adoption on the floor.
New Business & Go‑Live Support
- Support high‑complexity new business and automation go‑lives where execution risk is highest.
- Lead slotting readiness, labor modeling, capacity validation, and volume stress‑testing efforts.
- Support post‑go‑live stabilization through KPI tracking, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action recommendations.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead multiple initiatives simultaneously with minimal oversight, demonstrating strong ownership and engineering judgment.
- Provide regular mentoring and technical guidance to Engineer I and Engineer II team members.
- Serve as a dependable cross‑functional partner with Operations, IT, BI, and Project Engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, General Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within distribution, warehousing, or supply chain operations.
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical and operational problems.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, hypothesis testing, and performance measurement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Strong experience with WMS (Manhattan preferred), Labor Management Systems, and operational analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualization or BI tools.
- Distribution center, slotting, or productivity engineering experience.
- Experience supporting multi‑site or network‑level initiatives.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to support branch initiatives and go‑lives.
- Ability to work within a warehousing environment, including standing and walking for extended periods when onsite.

The anticipated salary range for this position:
$92,000.00 - $138,000.00 AnnualThe actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
