Description
The Sr. Network Engineer is a highly technical role responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and troubleshooting the organization’s network infrastructure across datacenters, offices, and cloud environments. This individual will pair deep networking expertise with strong customer service skills, ensuring systems are stable, secure, and optimized to meet business needs.
Essential Functions

- Plan, design, document, and implement LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and security systems including switches, routers, firewalls, NAC, and cloud connectivity.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues using logs, packet captures, and monitoring tools; drive issues to root cause resolution instead of temporary fixes.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex network problems while maintaining a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Partner with vendors, ISPs, and carriers to resolve connectivity and performance issues.
- Contribute to security posture by auditing firewall rules, reviewing NAC/ISE policies, and hardening configurations.
- Mentor junior team members in troubleshooting methodology and best practices.
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years hands-on experience with enterprise networking (Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, IPsec, SSL VPN.
- Experience with firewall configuration, NAC/ISE, IDS/IPS, and VPN administration.
- Experience with AWS/Azure connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, VPN gateways).
- Demonstrated ability to perform deep analysis using tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, DataDog, or ThousandEyes.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with ability to work on multiple tasks and follow through to completion.
- Strong written and verbal communication; proven ability to engage with end users, business leaders, and vendors with professionalism and empathy.
- Ability to create and write clear, complete documentation of systems and procedures.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team.
Customer Service & Professionalism
- Provide excellent customer service when engaging with associates and business partners, translating technical findings into clear business impacts.
- Take ownership of issues from report through resolution, ensuring stakeholders are informed and satisfied with outcomes.
- Balance technical precision with patience and approachability when assisting non-technical staff.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide mentorship to junior staff.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and videoconferencing equipment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. The daily schedule may vary from 8 am to 5 pm or 9 am to 6 pm. Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business.
Travel
This position requires up to 10% travel.
