Our composite design and fabrication expertise can be found on many commercial platforms such as Boeing's 7-series family, the Airbus A380 aircraft as well as Sikorsky S-76 helicopter. This position is accountable for the equipment specification, qualification, and reliability which supports the manufacturing of parts for aerospace structural applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment related issues pertaining to automated fiber placement (AFP) machines, automated tape layer (ATL) machines, braiding machines, filament winders, non-destructive inspection/testing (NDI/NDT) machines, autoclaves, ovens, pattern cutters, CNC machining centers, and industrial robot systems.
* Work with Maintenance and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to expedite repairs and drive to Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) that prevent recurrence of breakdowns.
* Define plans to support, define, or improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Remaining Useful Life (RUL), equipment reliability/availability, obsolescence, spare parts identification, and equipment qualification.
* Use advanced tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), IoT remote sensor monitoring, Renishaw Ballbar, vibration analysis, infrared thermography, power analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Machine Learning to monitor and evaluate equipment performance.
* Manage capital projects and/or define Scope of Work (SOW) and specifications for new equipment in accordance with Albany's project management policy.
* Initiate process improvements focused on safety, cycle time reduction, machine efficiency, and defect reduction in support of plant OEE goals.
* Generate and maintain software and equipment support documents such as executive software, PLC software, servo motor/drive configuration, Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and risk matrix.
Working Conditions
Indoor production environment, duties performed indoors, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, Travel may be required.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science degree and 2+ years of experience in designated Engineering or related field
* Or Associate of Science degree and 4+ years of experience in designated Engineering or related field
