Sun Chemical is seeking an experienced Data Architect II to join our Corporate IT team and drive the modernization of our enterprise data ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to architect cutting-edge solutions that bridge SAP, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI, enabling advanced analytics and business intelligence across our organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Solution Architecture & Design
Define high-level architecture that enables seamless integration of SAP and additional data sources into the Microsoft Fabric environment, ensuring robust data flow and interoperability.
Design and manage Microsoft Fabric workspaces, establishing reliable and efficient connectivity across SAP, Azure, and Fabric components to support unified data access and advanced analytics capabilities.
Leverage SAP BTP DataSphere and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) to create integrated analytics solutions.
Data Integration & Management
Implement data integration into Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Synapse Engineering.
Design and build Azure Data Factory pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
Ensure data security and governance at storage and reporting layers.
Oversee batch and incremental data loads, tuning performance to meet SLAs
Reporting & Analytics
Develop Power BI semantic layers and maintain Power BI reports, including paginated and interactive dashboards.
Support the migration of Cognos solutions into Power BI.
Support self-service analytics and ad-hoc reporting for business users.
Technical Leadership
Provide expertise and guidance on SAP analytics roadmap (S/4HANA Embedded Analytics, SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud).
Lead pilot projects and migrations (e.g., Cognos to Power BI, SQL DW to Fabric OneLake).
Collaborate with stakeholders across all business levels and our Accenture partners
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field required.
Technical Experience
- 5 years of progressive IT experience, with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Workspace, Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Data Engineering).
- Proven expertise architecting solutions with SAP (ECC and S/4HANA), Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI, including a strong understanding of SAP data structures, business processes, and their integration within enterprise analytics platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and cloud data services.
- Expert-level skills in data modelling, ETL processes, and semantic layer design.
- Advanced programming capabilities in SQL (T-SQL/Spark SQL), Python, and PySpark.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI (Desktop and Service), DAX, Power Query, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Log Analytics, Microsoft Purview, and CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps.
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance within enterprise environments.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical business stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
- Advanced project management skills, including requirements gathering, technical specification writing, effort estimation, resource planning, and risk management to ensure successful project delivery.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with experience coordinating and leading meetings with senior business stakeholders.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders on progress and priorities.
