Sr Business Analyst

Our Client, a Waste Disposal company, is looking for a Sr Business Analyst for their Houston TX/ Hybrid location.
Responsibilities:
- This team delivers technology solutions that modernize landfill operations, environmental compliance, and digital workflows across Client disposal network—the largest in the industry, managing nearly 100 million tons of waste annually.
- The selected hire will lead requirements development, cross-functional coordination, and delivery execution for multiple digital applications, including environmental compliance systems, operational technology integrations, and workflow modernization initiatives.
- Coordinate with business users, engineers, and technical teams to elicit, document, and validate business and user requirements.
- Develop detailed process flows, functional specifications, data flows, and use cases for complex integration projects.
- Create workflow diagrams, screen mockups, and cross-referenced documentation libraries.
- Write clear acceptance criteria for user stories and defects; support test case reviews and sanity checks with QA teams.
- Serve as a project lead for digital disposal initiatives, driving planning, execution, and delivery across multiple workstreams.
- Facilitate sprint ceremonies (standups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives) and ensure agile best practices.
- Partner with product owners, developers, QA, and field stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and timely delivery.
- Track issues, risks, and dependencies to resolution across internal teams and external vendors.
- Lead business user acceptance efforts and ensure readiness for deployment.
- Act as a liaison between business, engineering, and technology teams to support new system development and enhancements.
- Support integrations involving GIS, drone data, SCADA/industrial systems, or environmental compliance platforms (preferred).
- Conduct advanced business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit evaluations.
- Produce high-quality, structured documentation for requirements, workflows, training, and process changes.
- Communicate effectively with senior leaders, field operations, and technical teams.
- Proactively identify gaps, risks, and stakeholder challenges before they occur.
- Client operates the largest landfill network in North America, supported by advanced digital systems that ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across hundreds of engineered disposal sites.
- The Digital Disposal Operations team plays a critical role in this mission by developing and enhancing applications that modernize environmental monitoring, streamline operational workflows, and improve customer and field experience.
Requirements:
- At least five years of experience as a Business Analyst in enterprise application development, cross-product integration, or complex user-centric digital programs is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on experience developing requirements, use cases, acceptance criteria, and test documentation.
- Prior project management or scrum master experience, including risk management, project planning, and cross-team coordination.
- Experience working closely with development and QA teams throughout the full software delivery lifecycle.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
- Worked on every phase of the project development lifecycle within a Fortune 1000 company as part of a large team (more than five members).
- Experience working with engineering teams and familiarity with tools like ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud), ArcGIS (ESRI's GIS solution), drone data platforms, or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).
- Strong analytical skills, including data interpretation and experience with SQL or Oracle.
- Demonstrated background in Agile delivery, including facilitation of sprint ceremonies and continuous improvement practices, as well as experience leading software development initiatives or serving as a project lead.
- Experience developing training materials or supporting change management activities.
- Exposure to UI/UX concepts or software development practices that enhance collaboration with technical teams.
- Professional certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, CSPO, CSM, PSM, or PMP.
- This role requires exceptional communication, documentation excellence, and the ability to anticipate and resolve issues in complex, integrated system environments.
- The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience in software development projects, systems integration, and business process transformation, with required proficiency in collaborating closely with engineering teams and familiarity with GIS or environmental and industrial systems.
- They must demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills and be highly capable of developing functional and technical requirements, detailed use cases, and structured documentation for complex integration efforts. This role requires someone who is confident in engaging with front-line teams and senior leaders across both Business and Technology to clarify needs, align priorities, and ensure shared understanding of issues. The candidate must also have prior project management or scrum master experience, including creating and maintaining project plans, identifying and mitigating risks, coordinating cross-team and cross-department activities, and driving project execution through disciplined delivery practices. Superior documentation and organizational skills are essential, along with a strong intellectual curiosity to anticipate functional challenges as systems evolve. The selected hire will excel in business process change, maintain a strong command of systems integration concepts, and build a well-organized library of cross-referenced projects and process documents. They will proactively elicit information, probe details, foresee stakeholders and technical risks, and communicate with clarity and influence at all levels of the organization.
