Title: Sr Accountant
Location : Fairfield County, CT
Hybrid 3 days per week on site
$125,000 - $155,000 per year + 10% bonus

Our prestigious client is seeking a Senior Financial Systems Analyst to support their accounting and financial reporting platforms. This hybrid role blends traditional financial reporting with advanced data manipulation, programming, and systems automation. The ideal candidate will play a key role in improving how financial data is processed and reported by leveraging tools such as SQL, Excel, SAP, and scripting languages to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and visibility across the organization.

Job Description:

• Maintain and support financial systems including SAP General Ledger and Wings statutory reporting software

• Develop and automate technical workflows for GAAP and STAT financial reporting

• Write and execute SQL queries to analyze, validate, and transform large datasets

• Use Excel for advanced data analysis, modeling, and reconciliation (including macros and VBA)

• Configure financial system components such as accounts, cost centers, and reporting structures

• Work closely with Accounting and IT on system upgrades, integrations, and automation initiatives

• Troubleshoot system issues and resolve data discrepancies impacting financial reporting

• Assist with drafting internal white papers and documentation related to technical accounting topics

• Support automation and monitoring of internal controls over financial data and processes

• Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at improving financial operations and reporting tools

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's preferred or in progress

• Minimum of five years of accounting experience with a strong understanding of GAAP and STAT

• Hands-on experience writing SQL queries and manipulating large financial data sets

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, data models, and macros

• Experience with scripting or programming for automation (SQL, VBA, or similar)

• Familiarity with SAP and Wings or similar ERP and reporting platforms preferred

• Public accounting background (Big 4 or national firm) highly preferred

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently

• Industry experience in insurance or reinsurance is a plus
