Position Summary
The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller or Accounting Manager and is responsible for performing a variety of complex accounting duties, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and GAAP standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, curious, proactive, collaborative, and experienced with QuickBooks and NetSuite accounting systems.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Prepare financial and other analysis to support management decisions and reporting.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Review and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany transactions.
- Perform balance sheet and income statement analysis, identifying variances and trends.
- Assist with audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager or Controller and work cross-functionally on process
- improvements, analysis, and accounting projects.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records and files.
- Support system enhancements and integrations within QuickBooks and NetSuite.
- Calculate and prepare sales commission reports in accordance with company policies and sales agreements.
- Prepare sales tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track preferred).
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and NetSuite required; experience with NetSuite implementation is
- helpful
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial reporting, and internal control principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
