This is a temporary, 6-month, benefit-eligible position from June to December for a speech language pathologist (SLP) to support our inpatient rehabilitation flexible workforce team. Will consider strong Clinical Fellowship candidates seeking to complete their clinical fellowship year, in which case this position would extend to support completion of required hours (approximately 9 months).
We are seeking an SLP to work with both adults and pediatrics in acute care, and ideally also adults in post-acute care. This position is within our flexible workforce team and involves covering multiple M Health Fairview locations, which could include any of the M Health Fairview Hospitals (Southdale in Edina, Ridges in Burnsville, St. John’s in Maplewood, Woodwinds in Woodbury, and University of MN Medical Center East & West Bank Campuses and Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis) and our Bethesda LTACH in St. Paul. Exact locations to be determined after hiring based on applicant skill set and system needs.
In collaboration with patients and families, the SLP is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of care within scope of practice. This includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, planning, intervention and establishing outcomes.
+ FTE: 1.0, authorized for 80 hours per pay period.
+ Schedule: Four days/week and one weekend (Saturday/Sunday) per month.

Fairview Rehabilitation offers a range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs. Responsibilities
+ The Speech Language Pathologist partners with the patient and family while performing the Evaluation/Re-evaluation
+ Gathers pertinent data
+ Performs examination
+ Determines treatment diagnosis
+ Develops an individualized plan of care through collaboration with the patient and family
+ Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks
+ Determines prognosis for recovery
+ Establishes individualized goals with patient and/or caregiver
+ Individualizes plan of care considering developmental level and cultural differences
+ Implements and modifies plan of care based on reassessment and patient response
+ Coordinates care and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team for all aspects of patient care
+ Establishes appropriate discharge plan
+ Partners with patients and families to provide skilled intervention
+ Implements plan of care
+ Alters treatment/plan of care to reflect change in patient status and response to treatment
+ Assesses patient and/or caregiver learning needs and provides appropriate education
+ Documentation/Billing
+ Uses acceptable medical terminology
+ Follows professional practice standards
+ Completes documentation in a timely manner per department standards

Required Qualifications
+ Certification by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and
+ Speech Language Pathology license in the state of Minnesota
+ Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
+ If in Clinical Fellowship Year only: Active temporary license in the State of Minnesota, ASHA member and actively working towards obtaining Certificate of Clinical Competence
Preferred Qualifications
+ 1 year experience with adults and pediatrics
+ Feeding services experience and trained
+ Completion of CFY

Compensation Disclaimer
The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
