Role Summary
The Special Education Teacher provides classroom instruction for students ages 3–5 (Pre‑K) or K–6, delivering structured, IEP‑driven education that builds communication, socialization, adaptive behavior, and independence. Teachers work within a small, supportive program with 1:1 paraprofessional support and embedded therapeutic services.
What You’ll Do
Deliver structured special education instruction aligned to curriculum and IEP goals
Implement individualized therapeutic education plans across daily routines
Lead and coordinate paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides
Maintain accurate documentation: lesson plans, data collection, progress notes, and reports
Collaborate closely with families on student progress and carryover strategies
Partner with an interdisciplinary team including OT, PT, SLP, and behavioral supports
What You Bring
NJ Certification: Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) with P‑3 or K–6 endorsement OR Teacher of the Handicapped
Experience teaching students with developmental disabilities or special needs
Strong classroom leadership and organization
Collaborative, compassionate, and team‑oriented communication style
