Overview:

The Playa Vista campus is a vibrant hub for creative technology and media companies, fostering innovation and collaboration. Currently, we are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations. As the second-in-command, the Sous Chef is responsible for supervising kitchen staff, ensuring consistent food quality, upholding safety and sanitation standards, and assisting with menu planning and inventory management. This leadership role is ideal for someone who excels at mentoring team members, managing prep and service schedules, and ensuring smooth, high-quality service during every meal period. 

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef in planning and executing the culinary vision for the restaurant 

  • Oversee food preparation and ensure dishes are executed with precision  

  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain a smooth workflow  

  • Uphold the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation. 

  • Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain excellence in culinary techniques and presentation. 

  • Manage prep work, station assignments and kitchen flow to support a seamless service 

Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Sous Chef
  • Experience in high-class dining
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely and efficient food preparation
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a focus on maintaining a clean and organized work area

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during long shifts.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to handle knives, cookware, and kitchen equipment safely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
  • Tolerance for exposure to heat, steam, noise, and open flames.
  • Ability to navigate tight kitchen spaces and multitask efficiently.
  • Visual and sensory acuity to inspect food quality, presentation, and safety.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as required
