Position Overview



We are seeking a skilled and disciplined Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations. This role is responsible for execution, consistency, staff leadership, and maintaining high culinary standards during service.


The Sous Chef is the right hand of the Executive Chef expected to lead by example, hold the line, and ensure the kitchen runs efficiently, cleanly, and profitably.





Key Responsibilities




Kitchen Leadership & Execution



  • Lead kitchen operations during service and ensure smooth ticket flow
  • Enforce recipes, plating standards, and portion control
  • Step in for the Executive Chef when needed
  • Maintain speed, consistency, and quality under high volume




Staff Supervision & Training



  • Train and develop line cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen staff
  • Hold staff accountable to standards, punctuality, and performance
  • Assist with scheduling, station assignments, and shift coverage
  • Conduct pre-shifts and line checks




Food Prep & Quality Control



  • Oversee daily prep lists and production levels
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, and proper storage
  • Reduce waste and ensure efficient use of ingredients
  • Ensure all dishes meet presentation and taste standards




Inventory, Ordering & Cost Control



  • Assist with inventory counts and ordering
  • Monitor food costs and minimize waste
  • Ensure proper labeling, dating, and FIFO practices
  • Communicate shortages and needs to leadership




Cleanliness, Safety & Compliance



  • Enforce kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Ensure compliance with health department and food safety regulations
  • Maintain organized storage, walk-ins, and prep areas
  • Lead closing and cleaning procedures






Qualifications



  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Solid understanding of kitchen operations and food safety
  • Dependable, disciplined, and detail-oriented
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
