Position: SMT Operator/Lab Tech

Pay rate: $18.00-19.00

The SMT Operator is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of SMT pick-and-place machines used in assembling printed circuit boards (PCBs). The role involves machine setup, parts loading, quality inspection, and troubleshooting to ensure the smooth running of automated placement machinery. The operator is also involved in preventive maintenance, quality control, and the operation of non-placement machines such as reflow ovens, inspection scopes, and stencil printers.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate SMT pick-and-place machines for assembly of printed circuit boards
  • Load and verify parts onto the machine as per program
  • Tend to machines by quickly and efficiently loading/replenishing feeders with reels, tubes or trays of components, entering programs into automated placement machinery, setting up support fixtures and prepping the assembly line for the next order
  • Monitor and maintain equipment
  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures and schedules to meet company standards
  • Operate non-placement machines involved in the process (re-flow oven, inspection scope and stencil printer) including setup and tear down per established procedures
  • Responsible for quality inspection and documentation
  • Efficient in set-up and operating SMT equipment, including Screen Printer, Pick and Place Machine and Reflow Ovens
  • Read and understand bills-of-materials (BOMs) and parts lists
  • Work with a high level of detail and accuracy
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Maintain safe work habits and report any unsafe conditions
  • Inspect and QC incoming materials
