Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shop floor operations to ensure efficient production flow and adherence to schedules.
• Manage and mentor a team of production staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and scheduling.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with regulations.
• Monitor production output, quality control, and waste reduction, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Manage inventory of raw materials, finished goods, and consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., engineering, maintenance, sales) to resolve production issues and meet customer demands.
• Maintain and optimize equipment and machinery, coordinating with maintenance teams for repairs and preventative care.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall shop performance.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience in manufacturing operations and shop floor management.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with quality control systems and safety regulations.
• Proficient in production planning and scheduling.

Bonus Qualifications

• - Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
• - Certification in a relevant trade or manufacturing discipline.
• - Proven ability to implement and manage preventative maintenance programs.
• - Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production planning software.
• - Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
