Schetky Bus and Van Sales is a fourth-generation family owned full service School and Commercial Bus Dealership that has been in business since 1942. Our headquarters are located in Portland Oregon with branches in Lakewood Washington, Pasco Washington, and Tolleson Arizona.  We are a school bus dealer for Thomas Built Buses (A Daimler Company) and Collins Bus Corporation in the states of Oregon and Washington. Our commercial bus manufacturers include Forest River, Sunset, Driverge, and Hometown to name a few. We sell commercial buses throughout the United States.

 

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled, reliable Automotive/Bus working Service Foreman to lead a team of technicians, overseeing daily shop operations, ensuring quality repairs, and increasing tech efficiency by assigning work, training staff, and managing workflow. Liaison  with service advisors and customers to guarantee timely, efficient, safe, and profitable budget-conscious project completion, acting as the crucial link between management and the shop floor. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Training: Instruct, mentor, and train technicians on best practices, new equipment, and safety; conduct performance reviews and foster team growth.
  • Operations Management: Organize daily work, assign jobs, manage schedules, and ensure efficient workflow, adjusting for demand and breakdowns.
  • Quality & Safety Control: Inspect completed work, ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards, and promote a safe work environment.
  • Customer & Communication: Act as a liaison with Service Advisors and customers, resolving complaints and providing updates.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain records, track job costs, manage parts/supplies, and prepare reports.
  • Technical Expertise: Diagnose complex issues, perform repairs, and stay updated on manufacturer policies/warranties. 

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep technical knowledge of relevant equipment/vehicles (e.g., School buses, Commercial buses, and automotive).
  • Ability to read manuals, interpret technical data, and write reports.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. 
  • High personal level of accountability and desire to perform excellent service on every vehicle
  • ASE certification is preferred, with experience in areas such as bus, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems being highly desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. CDL is a plus.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and common automotive/bus tools.
  • Familiar with gas, diesel, electric, and propane engines a plus.
  • Dependability.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a team-work oriented mindset.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm, a good sense of humor, and a drive to grow and excel
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Have your own set of basic and some advanced tools.

 

Work Environment

  • Family, teamwork atmosphere.
  • The position is in a well-lit, clean and ventilated repair shop.
  • Work is full-time, with no evening and weekend hours required.
