A confidential defense logistics and distribution facility is seeking an experienced Shipping Supervisor to oversee day-to-day shipping operations in a secure, fast-paced environment. This leadership role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong organizational skills and a proven track record in shipping, logistics, and team management.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate all daily shipping operations to ensure high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and security.
Monitor team performance, provide guidance, and implement strategies to maintain efficient workflows.
Track and document all shipments in accordance with company policies and security protocols.
Liaise with external carriers, freight providers, and vendors to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Analyze shipment data to identify trends, resolve issues, and optimize operations.
Lead team meetings, communicate performance metrics, and provide regular updates to management.
Train, mentor, and support team members on shipping procedures and logistics best practices.
Ensure compliance with all safety standards, federal regulations, and internal quality requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, including team leadership.
VantageClear certification or equivalent U.S. security clearance is required .
Strong understanding of domestic and international shipping processes.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive under pressure and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with shipping software, tracking systems, and basic data analysis.
