Shift Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Plant Manager. The function of the Shift Manager is to safely produce and deliver to the customer’s satisfaction a quality product and service while also promoting a continuous improvement environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Directs the manufacturing department group to a common goal of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Maintains a manufacturing cost per pound at budget.
- Responsible for production department on an assigned shift.
- Manage direct subordinates including the production supervisors.
- Promote plant safety through education and training to employees.
- Participate in monthly safety committee meetings and safety inspections.
- Observe and enforce the safety rules to provide a safe working environment.
- Coordinate with warehouse to ensure production with efficiency and quality.
- Maintain productivity standards.
- Communicates with warehouse to ensure production to sales.
- Assist the different departments to achieve 100% service to sales goal.
- To up hold company policies; to treat subordinates fairly and consistently, to review existing policies and make recommendations.
- To execute projects as directed by the plant manager.
- In absence of the production manager to execute the responsibilities of a production manager.
- Observe and promote the Quality system through the plant.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, Preferably in Food Science, Operations/Manufacturing Management or related field
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bilingual English and Spanish Preferred
Administrative, financial, HR experience strongly preferred.
Experience:
5 to 7 years
Progressive manufacturing experience in Food or Beverage industry.
Exposure to Quality Systems preferred
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing preferred.
