  • The Sheetmetal Technician works under general supervision to safely layout, fabricate, and install parts, equipment and fabricated items on aircraft following established operating procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • All work performed should be in accordance with company design specifications, quality standards and completed work should meet customer expectations.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels, to work in teams or independently and communicate effectively with co-workers or supervisory staff.
  • Safely perform sheet-metal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment or fabricated items on aircraft under general supervision.
  • Coordinate with supervision and Inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs and quality specifications
  • Use complicated schematics/blueprints, engineering drawings and technical instructions to safely perform sheetmetal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment or fabricated items on aircraft
  • Safely operate shop equipment such as: brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet-metal functions

  • Round out edges of sheet metal Work with sheet metal
  • Identify and correctly use sheet metal machinery that is located in a sheet metal shop
  • Read blueprints to form and fabricate sheet metal
  • Set up and operate sheet metal fabricating machines
  • Perform sheet metal repairs to a variety of aircraft using knowledge of sheet metal materials and repair techniques
  • Perform sheet metal repairs to a variety of aircraft using in depth knowledge of sheet metal materials and repair techniques
  • Cutting, sheering, and grinding sheet metal/li
  • Performing various non-routine sheet metal operations
  • Fabricating, assembling, installing and repairing sheet metal products and equipment
  • Select gage and type of sheet metal according to products being fabricated and knowledge of metal
  • Used in hanging sheet metal wall panels and trim flashings
  • Set up and operate sheet metal fabricating and forming machines
  • Fabricate a wide variety of intricate sheet metal assemblies
  • Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products
  • Removing high metal and burrs from parts
  • Replace any sheet metal equipment, fittings, or material used in the plant
  • Fabricate and erect various sheet metal jobs according to drawings and specifications with minimum supervision
  • Setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal
  • Install prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes
  • Assembling, and altering sheet metal equipment used in the repair and installation of plant equipment
