Service & Maintenance Manager
The Service & Maintenance Manager oversees all service, maintenance, and field operations within the department, leading two specialized teams:
- Instrumentation & Controls Technicians providing installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and control panel services for PRASA facilities across Puerto Rico.
- Mechanical Technicians and Operators responsible for installation, operation, and maintenance of CHP (Combined Heat and Power) generator systems for multiple clients, as well as maintenance of the companys vehicle and equipment fleet.
This role ensures high‑quality service delivery, operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and strong coordination between supervisors, technicians, clients, and internal departments. The manager is accountable for planning, scheduling, performance, safety, and continuous improvement across both service groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Department Leadership
- Lead the Service & Maintenance Department, providing direction, priorities, and performance expectations.
- Ensure alignment of departmental operations with company goals, service commitments, and client requirements.
- Monitor overall workload, staffing needs, and resource availability, making strategic adjustments as needed.
- Establish KPIs for service quality, response time, uptime, fleet readiness, and customer satisfaction.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee the supervisors responsible for daily scheduling, preventive maintenance planning, and field resource coordination.
- Review and approve service plans, maintenance strategies, and operational priorities prepared by the supervisors.
- Ensure both service areas operate efficiently, meet contractual obligations, and maintain high technical standards.
- Evaluate operational performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
Service Delivery & Technical Oversight
- Provide guidance to supervisors on complex technical issues related to instrumentation, control systems, CHP generators, and mechanical maintenance.
- Ensure that supervisors enforce proper execution of technical procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and industry standards.
- Validate that service reports, maintenance logs, and technical documentation meet quality and compliance requirements.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with PRASA, CHP clients, and other key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and high service satisfaction.
- Address escalated service issues, coordinate solutions, and ensure timely follow‑up.
- Participate in client meetings, audits, and site visits as needed.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all service activities comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Oversee adherence to OSHA, PRASA requirements, manufacturer specifications, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across both teams.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate the department supervisors and their respective teams of technicians and operators.
- Identify training needs and coordinate technical and safety training programs.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes.
Administrative & Financial Responsibilities
- Manage departmental budgets related to labor, tools, fleet, materials, and service contracts.
- Review and approve purchase requests, inventory needs, and major service expenditures.
- Prepare, review, and submit service proposals, quotes, and contract renewals, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with client requirements.
- Track and report departmental KPIs, operational performance, and client satisfaction metrics.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve service processes, reduce downtime, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead initiatives to modernize tools, adopt new technologies, and strengthen maintenance practices.
- Ensure the department remains aligned with industry trends and evolving client needs.
Other duties may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5–10 years of experience in field operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience with instrumentation, calibration, control systems, mechanical equipment, and/or CHP generator systems preferred.
- Knowledge of fleet maintenance practices and safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to client sites across Puerto Rico.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
