Hands-on Server Validation Lab Technician to join our Server BIOS team. This role supports validation of cutting-edge server platforms and manageability firmware in a high-volume lab environment.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically curious, and comfortable working directly with server hardware, rack infrastructure, and engineering teams.

Education & Experience:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics, or related technical field preferred.
• Candidates with a high school diploma must have 5+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in server hardware testing, data center operations, or lab infrastructure support.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar technical certifications are a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deploy, configure, and maintain x86 server platforms within a high-volume validation lab environment.
• Perform system bring-up, BIOS and firmware updates, and platform configuration across multiple validation programs.
• Install and configure Linux and Windows Server operating systems for testing purposes.
• Conduct hardware failure isolation across CPU, memory (DIMMs), PCIe devices, storage, networking, and power subsystems.
• Troubleshoot L1/L2 network connectivity, validate switch configurations, and support rack-level network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and resolve rack-level power distribution issues, including PDUs and power balancing.
• Analyze system logs, firmware outputs, and OS-level errors to support root cause analysis.
• Reproduce defects and collaborate with BIOS, firmware, and hardware engineering teams to validate fixes.
• Utilize remote management tools (BMC/IPMI, serial console, KVM-over-IP) for system access and debug.
• Execute test procedures and assist with basic scripting or automation tasks (Python, PowerShell, or Bash preferred).
• Manage rack infrastructure including cabling, airflow considerations, hardware swaps, and lifecycle handling.
• Maintain accurate inventory tracking, asset management, and support hardware shipping/receiving workflows.
• Follow ESD and lab safety procedures while working with sensitive hardware components.
• Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent debug and validation activities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in high-density server or data center environments.
• Familiarity with x86 server architecture and modern server technologies (PCIe Gen4/Gen5, NVMe, RAID).
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (VLANs, subnets, switch validation).
• Experience supporting engineering teams during hardware or firmware validation cycles.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to document findings clearly.

Physical Role Demands:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
• Visual acuity for detailed hardware inspection and system monitoring.
• Comfortable using ladders and working at rack height.
• Ability to work in a lab/data center environment with elevated noise levels and varying temperatures.
