Position: Senior Web Developer

Location: 1500 N. Warner Tacoma, WA 98416


Responsibilities:

Responsible for optimizing and maintaining the university website, ensuring it remains
up-to-date, visually appealing, and user-friendly. The position focuses on implementing
innovative features, improving website performance, and streamlining processes for
both internal and external users. 

Essential Job Functions: 
  • Develop and maintain custom Drupal 9/10 modules and themes
  • Develop and maintain the web application architecture
  • Monitor and improve website performance by implementing best practices for Search Engine Optimization
  • Improve the Puget Sound website by working closely with the programming and development team to implement new features and enhancements, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and optimal performance
  • Collect and write project requirements by collaborating with stakeholders and ensure the requirements align with the university's goals and objectives
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Correspond with Marketing and Communications and other relevant stakeholders about the status of project activities regularly throughout all phases of the Development Life Cycle
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timeline manner related to the Drupal platform
  • Advise, support, and provide technical leadership to website editors
  • Advise on industry trends and emerging technologies by staying current on best practices in web development
  • Design and develop in a way that contributes to an inclusive working and learning environment and aligns with web compliance and cybersecurity standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Some remote work permitted from within normal commuting distance
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or a closely related field
      Experience: 5 years as a Web Developer or Software Engineer, or related occupation
OR:
      Education: Master’s degree
      Experience: 3 years as a Web Developer or Software Engineer or related occupation

Experience must include working with:
  • Drupal, including Drupal 9/10
  • PHP, Symfony Framework, MySQL, JavaScript (jQuery), Git, Composer and Node
  • Web development best practices, including responsive design and accessibility
Any suitable combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $107,307 to $107,307 annualized.

-Temporary positions that work at least .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will be eligible for benefits. 

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
