Senior Unix Engineer (Hybrid Roseville, MN)

We are seeking a Senior Unix Engineer for a global technology organization. This role will focus on managing, optimizing, and automating complex infrastructure environments across on-prem, private cloud, and public cloud platforms, with a strong emphasis on OpenStack, Linux systems, and enterprise storage.

This is a 6-month contract project (extensions possible), 40 hours per week. MUST work 2 days/week onsite at the client's office in Roseville, MN. The working hours will be 10 am - 7:00 pm CST.

This is a W2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. Health benefits and 401K are offered.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, maintain, and optimize Linux and Windows systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
• Deploy, configure, manage, and upgrade OpenStack environments (manual and automated using Ansible, Fuel, or Kolla).
• Provision and manage storage backends, including Ceph, Cinder volumes, and image repositories.
• Monitor system performance and proactively troubleshoot infrastructure issues to ensure operational reliability.
• Manage and optimize public cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Support virtualization technologies, including VMware, VCF, KVM, OpenShift Virtualization, and Kubernetes.
• Implement security best practices, including system hardening, patch management, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Configure and support enterprise storage technologies such as Fibre Channel zoning, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, and platforms like NetApp, Pure, and PowerStore.
• Work with identity and authentication systems such as LDAP and Active Directory.
• Develop and maintain automation using AWX, Ansible, and shell scripting.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure engineering supporting Linux-based environments in enterprise settings.
• Proven experience with OpenStack deployment, configuration, and upgrades.
• Experience working with storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, LVM, Ceph, and enterprise storage platforms.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, HTTP).
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, OpenShift, Kubernetes).

• Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, CKA, or Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA).

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Compensation: $50/hr to $53/hr
