What you'll do:We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an onsite Senior Technical Product Manager to join our dynamic team in Carlsbad, CA!
The day-to-day:
- Define and evolve the strategy for our Data & AI platform, ensuring it accelerates product development and aligns with company priorities.
- Own the roadmap, prioritizing foundational data services, AI/ML capabilities, and developer tooling that deliver clear value to engineering teams.
- Deeply understand internal customers, capturing feedback and analyzing usage patterns to identify friction points and shape platform improvements.
- Partner closely with Engineering to define requirements, guide architectural decisions, and drive execution of secure, scalable, high‑quality platform capabilities.
- Advance AI enablement, promoting adoption of AI/ML services, automation, and emerging Agentic AI capabilities across product teams.
- Communicate strategy and progress to collaborators, ensuring alignment across leadership, engineering, security, and data teams.
- Lead feature rollouts and change management, driving awareness, documentation, and onboarding to increase platform adoption.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies and find opportunities to enhance developer experience, improve data accessibility, and reduce operational overhead.
What you'll need:
- Proven experience (7+ years) in product management with a strong focus on data platforms, AI/ML infrastructure, analytics platforms, or developer‑focused products.
- Strong technical depth in modern Data & AI ecosystems—e.g., data pipelines, data warehouses/lakes, AI platforms, feature stores, observability, distributed systems, or cloud‑native services.
- Demonstrated success leading through OKRs, setting measurable objectives, driving alignment across teams, and continuously tracking outcomes to inform iteration.
- Ability to partner deeply with engineering, contributing to architectural discussions and translating complex technical concepts into clear product decisions.
- Hands‑on experience driving platform adoption, developer enablement, or building products used by internal engineering teams.
- Strong analytical abilities, with experience using metrics, usage data, and customer insights to guide prioritization and measure platform impact.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating strategy, trade‑offs, and value propositions to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, including LLMs, model development workflows, MLOps practices, automation, and emerging technologies like Agentic AI.
- A customer‑obsessed mentality, demonstrating an understanding of developer needs, eliminating friction, and delivering intuitive platform experiences.
- A bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to drive clarity, structure, and momentum in complex technical environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience
- Able to travel up to 20%
- Experience building or supporting cloud‑based data platforms, especially on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and tools, and an understanding of how engineering teams develop, deploy, and operationalize models at scale.
- Solid understanding of the end‑to‑end data lifecycle, including large‑scale data collection, real‑time and batch processing, and efficient storage patterns.
- Hands‑on knowledge of GCP data technologies such as BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), Cloud Composer, Dataplex, and streaming tools like Kafka.
- Experience applying data governance and compliance standards, including data quality, metadata management, and stewardship processes.
- Solid understanding of data privacy, governance, and security principles, along with the ability to stay current on evolving global regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Scrum, and proficiency with tools like JIRA for planning and Workboard for tracking OKRs and driving alignment.
Salary range: $167,000.00 - $264,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $207,500.00- $311,500.00/ annually : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
